This position is based out of our Calgary head office. Reporting to our Network Lead, you will work closely with our internal key stakeholders in IT, Cyber, HR, Finance, as well as our lines of business (Concrete, Asphalt, Aggregate). You will architect, implement, manage, and troubleshoot secure environments while leading multiple IT network initiatives on time and within scope. You will configure and optimize key network components, proactive maintenance, capacity planning, and close collaboration with cross-functional teams and vendors to ensure alignment with business objectives and top-quality service.


What you will be doing




Complete architecture, implementation, management and troubleshooting of BURNCO network infrastructure on-premises, sites, and in the cloud Design redundant environments ensuring high availability and security Conduct regular maintenance, updates, and health checks of all network components Provide on-call support on a rotational basis, resolving network issues efficiently Lead and deliver multiple parallel IT network initiatives in a disciplined manner on time, on budget, and within scope and quality specifications Configure and optimize SD-WAN, firewalls, routers, switches, VLANs, industrial DMZs, and VPNs for secure communication Troubleshoot and fix issues related to Firewalls, Load balancer, IPS/IDS & Proxy, along with LAN, WAN, WLAN, and SD-WAN issues Work with Fortinet, Cisco, Palo Alto, or equivalent networking and security devices Configure changes, upgrade, whitelist or blacklist URLs and Firewall rules etc. Implement permitter security such as Network Access Control, Firewall, DNS, Content Filtering, VPN, and Remote Access Document proper capacity plans to ensure appropriate bandwidth, latency, and availability Manage interdependence with other projects and operational activities Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure network strategies align with business objectives and cultivate a collaborative team environment Maintain excellent relationships with vendors and ensure BURNCO is receiving top quality service

What we would like from you



10+ years of experience as an IT Network Infrastructure Engineer / Specialist Hands-on experience working with Fortinet, Cisco, Palo Alto, or equivalent networking and security devices Demonstrated track record of implementing permitter security such as network access Demonstrated experience delivering datacenter and field network telecom projects, with solid understanding of fiber optic, radio towers, RF, Wi-Fi, LAN, WAN, SD WAN, Cloud Networking, etc. Expert knowledge in FortiGate SD-WAN solutions Experience working with Azure cloud solutions Technical understanding of network services (routing, switching, secure remote access, IP-VPN solutions, SD-WAN solutions, virtualization) A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer, Network, or Electrical Engineering or related discipline CCIE or NSE7 network certifications would be considered an asset ITIL v4 Foundation and security certifications would be considered an asset

Location and other key details:



This is a full-time, permanent position based out of our Calgary head office: 5055 11th St NE, Calgary, Alberta Standard hours are Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week, with some on-call availability required Occasional travel to multiple BURNCO sites; must be comfortable working in an industrial setting with PPE A valid driver's license is required as well as an up-to-date Passport for occasional travel across the Canada / United States border
