DP World Prince Rupert
The fastest connection from Asia to North American markets. Located on Canada’s Northwest coast, DP World Prince Rupert is the closest major North American port to Asia. With the 2017 completion of our Phase 2 North expansion project, Prince Rupert is now operating at a capacity of 1.35 million TEUs annually. In 2018 the Phase 2B expansion project was announced that will increase throughput capacity to 1.6 million TEUS annually by 2020 and 1.8 million TEUS by 2022. Our increasing capacity means we can further support the importers and exporters who favor Prince Rupert for its position as the most efficient and fastest route for trade between Asia and North America.

The Opportunity
As Lead, Administrative Services you are responsible for leading the Administration team and providing oversight for the compliance, sustainability, community relations and First Nations engagement programs for the terminal.
In this role, you will:

  • Provide leadership and create a rewarding team based culture for the Administration team, including mentorship and development of staff.
  • Work with HR department and terminal group to ensure annual sustainability budget is spent as intended to achieve agreed upon goals.
  • Aid in administering the security access pass program including setup and administration of the system, provision of access card privileges and maintenance of the system and pass data.
  • Provide analytical support for purposes such as data analysis, statistical reporting, benchmarking activities, developing and generating queries, preparing and compiling reports and documents using various software and tools.
  • Support any required actions to ensure the organization’s compliance with the port authority and other regulatory bodies.
  • Coordinate and administer with operations on billing and aid with return of damaged equipment, while producing statistics for billing purposes.
  • Create and maintain records, policies and procedures for the Administration Services and Operations departments.

What you bring to the role:

  • A degree in business administration or other relevant field.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build and maintain good working relationships and achieve buy in and ownership to quality standards/ initiatives with all stakeholders and levels.
  • Sound judgement and analytical thinking that enables decision making, ability to manage projects and prioritize and manage timelines.
  • Exceptional project management skills, with the ability to multi-task and work to competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong analytical skills. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially excel.
  • Strong commitment to client service excellence with the ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships throughout the organization and with the port authority, members’ association, and other key stakeholders.
  • Self-starter with a positive, hands on approach and the ability to work as a team member.
  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience, combined with experience working in heavy industrial environment; unionized environment is an asset.
  • Liaising with government, regulatory, industry and labour organizations.
  • Working and representing the organization with the government, non-government organizations, Indigenous communities and leadership and the general public.
  • Facilitating and/or developing and implementing community programs and strategies.
  • Previous Canadian work experience or experience working directly with Canadian industries.
  • Fluent in English.
