Overview

Home Counsel Legal Services (HCLS) is seeking lawyers, ideally with a focus in Family Law, to join its growing network. HCLS offers a turn-key practice management solution, providing the resources you need to focus on what matters most--the clients. Lawyers in other fields (e.g., criminal, employment, or wills & estate law) are also encouraged to apply, provided they can practice independently and have a track record of doing so.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide legal representation and advice, with a focus on Family Law (open to other practice areas)

- Negotiate settlements and advocate on behalf of clients

- Draft legal documents such as parenting agreements, settlement offers, and pleadings

- Conduct legal research using tools like Lexis-Nexis

- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case files

- Represent clients in court as necessary

Qualifications:

- J.D. or LL.B. degree from an accredited law school

- Admitted to the Ontario Bar and in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario

- Roster member of Legal Aid Ontario in Family matters (mandatory)

- 0 to 10+ years of experience (new calls are welcome, subject to having to work experience in Family Law)

- Strong proficiency in legal research, drafting, and courtroom representation

- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

- Ability to work independently and manage client relationships effectively

- Have a sole proprietorship or professional corporation (or willing and able to register one)

Contract:

Fee Earnings

: $48,000 - $120,000/year (based on billable hours and your own personal targets)

Fee Split

: Earn a percentage of your billable hours. The more you bill, the more you keep

Retention bonus

: Increase your retained percentage based on years of practice

Work schedule

: 24/7 (there are no "clock-in / clock-out" times, set your own schedule)
