About LAW
LAW is an interdisciplinary community legal clinic funded by Legal Aid Ontario and combining the legal and social work professions to meet the multi-faceted needs of the low-income community in Windsor and Essex County. This project is funded by the Department of Justice.
About the Position
The staff lawyer will provide legal advice and representation to survivors of intimate partner violence and sexual assault. The lawyer will be part of our legal and social team and will engage in our program activities including casework, public and continuing legal education, law reform and community development.
Requirements
The successful candidate will be a member of the Law Society of Ontario.
Knowledge of and experience in criminal law & family law is an asset.
They will have a collaborative approach to legal work and strong interpersonal skills.
Experience and an ability to collaborate in an interdisciplinary setting is essential.
The development and application of trauma-informed practice principles will be necessary.
An understanding of the intersectional relationship of gender identity, gender expression, violence, poverty, disability, and race is required.
Job Benefits
The annual salary is $84,000.00.
