Key Responsibilities
Manage a range of family law matters: divorce, child custody & access, child and spousal support, property division, and preparing separation agreements.
Handle real estate law files: residential (and/or commercial) purchase & sale transactions, mortgages, title & off-title searches, easements, leases and discharges.
Draft, review, and negotiate legal documents; provide clear, practical advice to clients.
Representing clients in court, mediations, and other dispute resolution sessions.
Maintain regular communications with clients; respond to inquiries, update on file progress.
Oversee real estate transactions to ensure compliance with legal / regulatory requirements.
Collaborate with the legal team (law clerks, legal assistants, other lawyers) to deliver high-quality, timely service.
Qualifications
Required:
Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario (or equivalent jurisdiction).
Minimum 2-4 years of post-call experience practicing family law and/or real estate law. Preference for candidates with experience in bothareas.
Strong working knowledge of Ontario family law statutes/procedures, real estate transaction processes.
Excellent oral and written English communication skills. Proficiency in Chinese (Mandarin, Cantonese or other) is a strong asset.
Ability to handle files independently, manage client relationships, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines.
Goal-oriented: comfortable with performance metrics / targets (e.g. billings, file closings).
Assets (not required but preferred):
Experience in high volume real estate transactions.
Experience litigating contested family law matters.
Familiarity with legal software (e-filing, document management).
Multilingual skills beyond English/Chinese.
Compensation & Benefits
Full-time position.
Annual base salary plus performance-based commission structure.
