Job Description

UCN acknowledges that we are on the traditional

DUTIES

Reporting to the Associate Dean of Skilled Trades, Apprenticeship and Technology, the Law Enforcement instructor is responsible for the


development and delivery of industry-endorsed culturally relevant curriculum, and for evaluation of student performance relating to their


teaching assignments. The Law Enforcement Instructor also assists with assigned activities including University College promotion, student


recruitment, and various program logistics and administrative functions.







REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

o Extensive experience in a Law Enforcement career


Previous supervisory responsibilities Knowledge of current industry best practice and legislation Experience with physical and practical training Excellent interpersonal skills Excellent communication skills Strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office suite Experience and/or knowledge and understanding of Indigenous and northern cultures Demonstrated ability to understand cultural influences and issues specific to Indigenous learners and mature students in northern communities


Commitment to life-long learning

ASSETS

o Previous instructional experience teaching adult learners (formally and informally) in northern or remote communities


Previous experience teaching using online platforms (ex, Moodle, D2L, UCNLearn) Ability to speak an indigenous language


CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

o Candidates must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident of Canada


Satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Child Abuse Registry and Adult Abuse Registry College Instructors are required to complete the Teaching for Learning (TFL) in Applied Education program or have previously completed the Certificate in Adult Education (CAE)
