Family Law Clerk - Get Files Moving (Full-Time)



Looking for real responsibility, clear systems, and a practice that actually gets things done?

I'm hiring a full-time Family Law Clerk to join my Ottawa practice. You'll handle the disclosure, service/filings, client intake and client calls, templates, and preparing materials for court. You're independent, self-motivated, and comfortable taking a task from "got it" to "done" without hand-holding.

What You'll Be Doing



You'll be handling everything including:

Client intake:

screening new files, capturing facts, conflicts, opening matters, setting "what's next."

Client calls:

routine updates, info requests, scheduling/rescheduling, polite follow-ups that keep files moving.

Drafting:

conference briefs, motion materials, affidavits, undertakings/answers, and standard letters.

Financial disclosure wrangling:

obtaining financial disclosure from our clients and the other side, and keeping financial statements current as documents trickle in.

Service & e-filings:

in the Portal and Case Center.

Nice-to-have (5-10% of practice):

basic wills/POA experience is helpful but not required.
You'll work closely with me and our lead clerk so what leaves the door is accurate, complete, and on time.

You Might Be a Fit If You...



Have Ontario family law clerk experience (you've lived in the portals and survived Case Center). Can draft domestic contracts, conference briefs, affidavits, and motion forms. Are independent and self-motivated - you don't wait for reminders; you set them. Own outcomes - from intake to filed/served with clear updates and minimal supervision. Are unreasonably proud of your naming conventions and folder hygiene. Communicate clearly with clients and courts - brief, polite, accurate. Grounded and solutions-first: no drama, just progress. Think checklists are a love language and deadlines are real. You know the real limitation period is how long your coffee stays warm.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
