What You Will Get To Do The successful candidate will have a positive impact on our corporate culture by demonstrating the Town\xe2\x80\x99s CARE core values (Collaborative, Accountable, Respectful, Engaged) through daily interactions with individuals at all levels of the organization, external contacts and elected officials. By effectively building positive rapport and relationships both internally and externally, the successful candidate will help us achieve our mission that together we deliver services that make a difference in our community. Reporting to and under the direction of the Senior Manager Parks, Parks Planning & Development and/or Supervisor of Parks Development, the Landscape Architect is responsible for:
  • preparing and reviewing park/landscape designs, working drawings, cost estimates, project budgets and tender documents for park, and trail development/redevelopment projects;
  • overseeing the work of landscape architectural consultants, construction contractors and construction projects as they relate to park, facility and trail development/redevelopment;
  • scheduling and liaising with Town Departments and external agencies;
  • preparing drawings and presentation materials for reports and public engagement sessions;
  • coordinating public engagement sessions for park and trail development and redevelopment projects;
  • preparing reports for the Supervisor of Parks Development, Senior Manager Parks, Parks Planning & Development, and Commissioner of Community Services;
  • conducting background research and analysis associated with parks design and construction;
  • responding to public inquiries;
  • supporting the Parks Planning and Development Section;
  • responsible for reviewing current construction materials and methods and adopting, as necessary, best practices and standards; and
  • other duties as assigned.

What You Bring To Our Team As the successful applicant, you will possess:
  • a bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Landscape Architecture from a recognized institution;
  • a minimum of four (4) years of directly related experience;
  • be a fully registered member with certificate and seal of the Ontario Association of Landscape Architects;
  • demonstrated proficiency using AutoCAD and MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • ability to attend public meetings outside normal working hours; and,
  • a valid unrestricted Driver\xe2\x80\x99s Licence (minimum Class \xe2\x80\x9cG\xe2\x80\x9d) maintained in good standing with access to a personal vehicle is preferred.
