Overview:

IBI Group is seeking a talented Arborist / Ecologist / Biologist / Landscape Designer / Landscape Architect to join our Placemaking Team at our Toronto campus. You will support the design and implementation of a diverse range of projects including tree inventory and analysis, landscape and planting designs, civic plazas, streetscapes, parks, POPS, mix-used and retail spaces.

We have requirements on numerous private development projects as well as on YNSE/SEE that require the services of a certified arborist/ecologist/landscape architect.

Most of the things you'll work on:

  • Work with Senior Landscape Architects to design creative, context-sensitive urban environments to support public and private sector projects;
  • Prepare Arborist reports, tree removal and preservation & planting plans on all studio projects
  • Contribute to the entire design life cycle from Schematic Design through to Detail Design;
  • Collaborate with other disciplines including Architects and Engineers;
  • Ensure project deliverables comply with local standards and contract requirements;
  • Take part in the bidding process as well as contract administration as needed;
  • Assist with contract administration and site inspections as necessary;
  • Prepare high quality graphic presentations and develop creative technical solutions;
  • Creation of presentation drawings, models and materials;
  • Assist with technical reports;
  • Prepare technical drawings;
  • Meet project deadlines.
Qualifications

You'll need to have:
  • Certified Arborist or close to obtaining certification;
  • Degree or diploma from an accredited institution within the fields of Landscape Architecture, Ecology, Biology or Forestry;
  • Minimum 1-2 years (post-graduation) of relevant working experience in landscape architecture in a professional design or engineering firm;
  • Experience with project coordination in municipal, commercial and private sector projects;
  • Experience with multi-disciplinary design coordination;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Experience in preparation of construction drawings;
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD;
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
  • Valid driver's license is required.
Additional Information

Office description:

We are currently in a work from home model during COVID-19 but when we do return to the office we're located at 55 St. Clair Ave West, this office is steps away from St. Clair station and is easily accessible by bike, TTC and car. Occupying 7 floors, with over 700 employees, it is the largest office at IBI Group. You will need to be local to the Toronto office and able to work remotely until we return to the office.

The floors are open concept and represent our collaborative approach to projects. You'll have direct access to management while benefiting from our enthusiastic and helpful organizational resources team. As a global architecture, engineering and technology design firm, IBI Group also has offices across the country, continent and world.
