The Land Agent is primarily responsible for establishing and maintaining positive relationships with landowners, land users, and other parties, the negotiation and resolution of various land and right-of-way issues, landowner concerns, and claims. The position will provide a wide range of real property services relating to the acquisition, development, and disposition of land interests for the pipelines and their operation. The land agent is also key to monitoring land use, identifying risks, and providing mitigation for encroachments, incompatible land use, and class change triggers.

Communicates, responds to, and anticipates stakeholder concerns, needs, and requests, while maintaining company commitments to stakeholders\' milestones and objectives.

Provides correspondence to stakeholders as necessary for managing the varied land interests held by Trans Mountain, including correspondence with government authorities.
/li

Builds and maintains positive relationships with landowners through ongoing engagement, responds to the landowners\' inquiries and addresses their concerns; Educates landowners on safe pipeline operations.
/li

Directly engages and communicates with landowners and land users regarding project information, damage prevention, or public awareness files and supports the delivery of landowner packages, new landowner engagement procedures, and unauthorized activity documentation.
/li

Directly engages and communicates with landowners and land users regarding project information, damage prevention, or public awareness files and supports the delivery of landowner packages, new landowner engagement procedures, and unauthorized activity documentation.

Establishes and maintains lines of communication with field operation staff and external parties such as landowners and government authorities to ensure an effective transfer of knowledge between all stakeholders; and Investigates information on tenures to both internal and external parties which may result in undertaking other communications as necessary.

Collaborates with leaders to formulate solutions for landowner and land use problems, concerns, and issues.
/li

Arranges entry on lands, negotiates, and settles land files (claims, concerns, issues, conflicts, information on respective contractual or statutory rights, and damage prevention issues).

Requirements:

Experience assessing claims and other conflict situations, as well as developing strategies & tactics to successfully resolve issues while maintaining cooperative relationships; knowledgeable in handling assigned specialized "category" files such as First Nation Lands, Proximity Permit Conflicts, and issues related to the CER regulatory regime, and land permitting subject to the provincial jurisdiction (OGC, AER, Parks) or dealing with Municipalities, etc.

Must be familiar with the Canada Energy Regulator (CER) Act, the CER Pipeline Damage Prevention Regulations, BC Oil and Gas Commission/Alberta Energy Regulator legislation and regulations as it pertains to the CER-regulated pipelines and land taking affected Crown lands.
/li

Must be able to make decisions and work efficiently and quickly often under time pressure using effective time management and taking the initiative to resolve issues; must have competent skills with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to use databases.
/li

li
Experience working with a multi-disciplinary team of project professionals; experience with regulatory agencies and knowledge of the CER Act and Regulations is an asset.
/li

li
Strong communication and ability to work collaboratively with others; ability to analyze and troubleshoot complex problems and make sound decisions; strong organizational skills.
/li

li
Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner; and ability to work within tight deadlines and multiple project demands.
/li

li
Completion of post-secondary education with a Bachelor of Arts, Commerce and/or; Over 10 years of experience; University level degree, Diploma program in Urban Land Economics in BC or Land Agent License in AB, or experience equivalent.
/li

li
Land Agent with pipeline experience preferred, has BC experience working as a Land Agent or familiar with BC regulations, land, right of way preferred.
/li
