Reporting to the Supervisor of Land, this position expedites customer service applications and negotiates the acquisition of rights-of-way and related interests in land required to accommodate the construction of Natural Gas facilities. This position also establishes and maintains direct contact with landowners, customers, government agencies, land developers, contractors and their legal representatives involved with or affected by the installation and operation of Natural Gas facilities as well as negotiate the settlement of damage claims.

What You Get to Do:

  • Develop and maintain a general working knowledge of the Corporation\'s Natural Gas facilities, and is knowledgeable of the company policies, procedures and regulations pertaining to the transmission system, distribution urban and distribution rural gas program and applies them appropriately.
  • Negotiate the acquisition of rights-of-way, fee simple land, and related interests in land required to the company\'s benefit in order to accommodate the construction and operation of Natural Gas facilities.
  • Provide input for the routing for proposed rural main extensions, replacements or alterations and submit all pertinent documentation and plans associated with the project to the project manager for final design and processing.
  • Participate in the determination of Natural Gas system location and costing. Preparation and presentation of legal documents pertaining to land acquisition with landowners, occupants and their legal representatives.
  • Assist the Land Administration Team when required in obtaining necessary searches, related documents and/or registered plans from Land Titles Offices and interprets same, to facilitate the design and installation of Natural Gas facilities.
  • Negotiate the settlement of construction related damage claims against the company and obtain damage releases.
  • Act as a primary contact and liaison between landowners/customers and involved company departments.
  • Obtain appropriate approvals from Government agencies, local authorities, third party interests including foreign pipeline crossings, when required to accommodate the installation of Natural Gas facilities.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Relevant post-secondary diploma as recognized by the Alberta Land Agents Registrar
  • Valid Alberta Land Agent License
  • Commissioner for Oaths certification
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 driver\'s license
  • Capability to provide on-the-job training and guidance
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Problem-solving abilities, especially under stress
  • Comprehensive knowledge of government regulations related to land acquisition and the natural gas industry
  • Technical acumen to understand natural gas systems\' construction, design, and operation
  • Familiarity with legal documents for land acquisition and construction
  • Unwavering commitment to safety in the workplace
  • Meets pre-employment criteria as outlined in Alcohol & Drug Policy for Safety-Sensitive Positions
