Job Description

We are currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented

Labourer

to join our Distribution group supporting residential shallow utilities work in Edmonton, AB.


Reporting to the Foreman / Lead Hand, this position will support the safe and efficient installation of shallow-utilities (power, gas and telecommunications) in new residential subdivisions, in and around the Greater Edmonton area.

Please note: this is a site-based position and the successful candidate must have their own vehicle to get to site and possess a valid drivers licence.

Duties and Responsibilities

Install cable in trenches up to 1.5m deep Set telecom pedestals, install conduit, sand cable, move material Safely lift up to 50lbs Operate jumping-jacks, plate tampers, and other handheld or portable equipment Perform physical duties while always working safely Learn to read and understand construction drawings for specific tasks given Effectively communicate and carry out tasks as provided, correctly and efficiently Possibly operate skid-steer and other construction equipment on-site Complete time sheets, vehicle pre-trip vehicle inspections and other paperwork as assigned Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Previous construction experience (electrical utility or civil work experience preferred) Valid driver's license with a clean record Ability to perform physically demanding duties and safely lift a minimum of 50 lbs Demonstrated experience with the safe operation of hand and power tools Solid understanding of workplace safety practices and procedures
