The Role:



Are you a patient focused Lab Technician with excellent communication skills and medical administration and Holters experience?

KMH Cardiology Centres Inc. is recruiting for a 14-month Contract position for a Lab Technician as Patient Care Coordinator/Holter Tech for our specialist physician practices in

Kitchener

Woodstock.



The successful candidate will be a part of a team to:

- Support physician practises and facilitate patient Intake through timely, high quality and efficient administrative care

- Holter/Ambulatory monitor installation and downloads. The role also performs resting ECG.

The Accountabilities:



The specific accountabilities of the role include:

- Patient Intake

- Coordination of daily clinic operations

- Management of Physician orders Utilize Tableau daily to facilitate KPI attainment. Ensure tasks are completed in a timely manner within pre-defined KPI's for team

- Meet and achieve established KPI's

- Tasks Management including Chart Checks and Report Uploads

- Missed appointment follow up

- Inform and educate patients about tests and procedures as requested by physician

- Foster a collegial, respectful clinic environment

- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure best patient experience and outcomes

- Holter monitor installation and download of the recorded data

- Blood pressure monitor installation and download of the recorded data

- Displays strong arrhythmia recognition skills

- Obtains high quality resting 12 Lead electrocardiogram recording

- Provides the physician with a tracing of the patient's ECG, blood pressure measurements

- Conducts tests in accordance with the CSCT and KMH's protocols, policies, and procedures

- Instructs or aids the patient on ambulatory procedures and other equipment. Use proper equipment fitting to ensure patient comfort and safety.

- Applies independent judgment and critical thinking during the test to ensure that all appropriate data is appropriately captured during the test. Refers to ECG Technologists, Team leads, supervising physicians, internal specialists on site for QA and procedural advice for abnormal studies.

- Maintains work areas in a clean and orderly condition and ensures the examination rooms are properly supplied, equipped and operational before, during and after each shift.

- Ensures that all equipment is well maintained and in good working order and assists in maintaining a current inventory of routine supplies.

- Attend team meetings and updates

- Coordinate patient care during their appointments including checking in, prepping, escorting to exam rooms, preparing exam or treatment rooms, answering questions, providing post-appointment service and monitoring the waiting room

- Answers enquiries by phone and in person in a helpful, respectful and efficient manner

- Maintains electronic medical record, including the patient chart. Performs tasks (including uploading, scanning, faxing and referrals) in support of patient care.

- Interview patients and acquire the required past Medical History

- Ensure patient confidentiality

Minimum qualifications:



- Graduate of an approved Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent

- Lab Technician (certified)

- Medical administration experience

- Holters experience

Required skills and experience:



- Clinic experience in a similar role

- ECG and Ambulatory Monitors experience is an asset

- Proven ability to work proficiently in a busy fast paced specialist clinic environment

- Self-directed, detail oriented with an ability to multitask, establish priorities and achieve objectives with minimal supervision

- BLS

- Phlebotomy experience is an asset

- Strong knowledge of medical terminology

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

- Good telephone etiquette

- Proficiency in technology including MS Office and EMR systems experience

- Excellent time management and organizational skills

- Effective analytical and problem solving skills

- Able to deal with sensitive information with a high degree of diplomacy

- Team orientation

- The ability to provide coverage at KMH Kitchener KMH Woodstock

The Specialist Practise teams takes pride in our patient focused environment and works very closely with other service and clinical teams at KMH.

This is a 14-month Contract position with full-time role scheduled for 5 days/37.5 hours per week. The role is scheduled Monday-Friday from

8.00 a.m.-4.00/4.30 p.m.

Saturday's are required on rotation with the team.

This position reports to the Team Lead: Specialist Practise Practise.
