RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC
The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Quebec - Sante (FRQS).

Position summary
The project involves laboratory research into the neurobiology of learning, in a rodent model. The incumbent will report directly to the lab head, Aparna Suvrathan.

General Duties
The key job responsibilities and percentage time for each are as follows

• Conducting behavior tests in mice using specialized equipment (40%)
• Analysis of behavior tests utilizing machine learning-based methods (60%)

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Managing a genetically-modified rodent colony,
• Planning and execution of behavioral tests in exact conformity with the scientific standards that have been established by previous studies. Therefore, expertise and previous experience with standard molecular biology techniques as well as with behavioral experiments are essential.
• Analyzing our specialized behavior tasks using Python to implement a machine-learning-based analysis framework. The applicant is expected to have extensive expertise in coding.

Work Experience: Experience in a research lab investigating rodent behaviors. Experience with establishing analysis pipelines using Python

• Ability to work independently or with teams with minimum supervision,

Status: Temporary, Part-time
If temporary part-time is selected, please specify the number of hours per workweek: 27
Pay Scale: Commensurate with education and experience
Work Shift: Depends on experiments, which typically extends into weekends.
Work Site: Montreal General Hospital
