Location: Cornerstone Community Residence 704 Main Street
Hours: Monday - Friday (8:00am - 4:00pm) Flexible depending on catering contracts
Purpose:
The purpose of the Kitchen Supervisor, under the direction of the Kitchen Manager, is to oversee the daily operation of the kitchen in an efficient, effective and safe manner. The Supervisor provides direction and supervision to both part-time and AOC kitchen staff. The position will be primarily responsible to adhere to and enforce all appropriate workplace regulations, compliances, and legislation regarding health and safety, food preparation standards, and company policies and procedures. This position will be continually aware of, and maintain, the highest standards of professionalism by following the company dress code and/or wearing the company uniform. This role will also maintain a professional appearance, demeanor, and attitude at all times.
Task Related Duties & Responsibilities:
Manage and provide leadership on kitchen staff, ensuring the training and development of staff, providing input for performance, appraisals, and disciplinary action, according to the values and guidelines of Opportunities Yukon;
Ensure consistent food preparation and the highest caliber of food presentation, taking advantage of all opportunities to improve upon both, and ensuring communication to the kitchen staff; train staff in safe preparation, cooking and handling of food;
Ensure cleanliness and hygiene is maintained in the various kitchen areas including refrigerators and storerooms and that food products are rotated to ensure high standards of freshness. Ensure refrigerators and storerooms are organized and maintained in the various kitchen areas on a daily basis and that all food products are stored in accordance with provincial regulations;
Kitchen Supervisor will be trained in facilitating catering orders from Costumers either by phone call , emails and in person meet ups to organize and coordinate proper logistics needed for a successful events. Giving insights and advice for a smooth execution of event, particularly in catering services.
Kitchen Supervisor will be trained how to utilize Catering App (Caterease) and maximize its full potential.
Provide input for menus - creating, developing, and recommending recipes for the use of other staff - to create a consistent and quality food product.
In collaboration with the Manager, order inventory of food products for the preparation and operation, of an efficiently run kitchen.
Assist and coach in the organization of other staff to reduce the workload or meet the deadlines of the department.
Respond in a positive and timely manner to all internal and external guest requests and complaints;
Prepare weekly staff schedules, and monitor staffing levels in conjunction with determined budgets.
Seek opportunities to increase food revenue, decrease kitchen expenses and maximize departmental productivity without compromising our clients' satisfaction.
Job Requirements
Minimum three years experience in either a restaurant or catering setting;
Willingness and ability to train and work with persons with disabilities or from within the vulnerable sector;
Culinary Education Trade Papers, Red Seal or equivalent required (desirable)
Knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel (Minimum)
Food Safe
Drivers' License Class 5 (3 years experience minimum)
WHMIS
Standard First Aid
Able to lift or carrying up to 50 lbs.
