Position Summary:



The Sutton Place Hotel is seeking a skilled and organized Kitchen Manager to lead the preparation and execution of daily staff meals for our hotel team. This role is responsible for planning, preparing, and maintaining high-quality, nutritious, and varied meals served buffet-style to support and fuel our employees across all departments. The ideal candidate has strong culinary skills, is highly organized, and thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.



Key Responsibilities:



Meal Planning & Execution: Design and rotate weekly staff meal menus to meet dietary variety and nutritional needs. Ensure meals are balanced, cost-effective, and align with culinary standards. Kitchen Operations: Prepare and cook daily staff meals for all hotel departments. Set up and maintain a clean, attractive, and well-stocked buffet line. Monitor food presentation, temperature, and freshness throughout service. Inventory & Ordering: Manage kitchen inventory, conduct regular stock checks, and ensure FIFO practices. Order supplies and ingredients in a timely, cost-conscious manner. Liaise with vendors and maintain positive relationships to ensure quality and pricing. Sanitation & Compliance: Uphold strict food safety, hygiene, and sanitation protocols in compliance with health regulations. Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, prep areas, and buffet station at all times. Team Collaboration: Work closely with the Executive Chef, HR, GM to anticipate meal needs based on team schedules. Support occasional special meals or events for internal staff celebrations or recognition. Champion ownership of the kitchen and partner with stewarding for dish pan pick up and washing and replenishing of clean dishes.

Qualifications:



Minimum 3 years of professional kitchen experience, with at least 1 year in a leadership role. Culinary training or Red Seal certification is an asset. Proven ability to manage kitchen operations, including ordering and inventory control. Strong organizational and time management skills. Knowledge of food safety standards and compliance (e.g., FoodSafe certification). Ability to work independently and take initiative. Positive, respectful attitude with strong interpersonal skills.

Working Conditions:



Full-time, typically daytime hours with some flexibility required for hotel events. Standing, lifting (up to 40 lbs), and working in a commercial kitchen environment. Meals provided during shift; uniform may be provided.
