We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Kitchen Manager to oversee the daily operations of our kitchen. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and a passion for food service, ensuring that our culinary team delivers high-quality meals while maintaining a safe and efficient kitchen environment. This role requires effective team management, food preparation expertise, and the ability to handle cash transactions. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience in a kitchen manager, executive sous, chef de cuisine or sous chef role. Kitchen management experience is a similar pub setting is preferred.
Duties
Lead and manage kitchen staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
Oversee food preparation processes to ensure quality and consistency in all dishes.
Maintain inventory levels and order supplies as needed, ensuring all ingredients are fresh and available.
Implement and enforce health and safety regulations in the kitchen.
Train new staff members on cooking techniques, food safety practices, and kitchen operations.
Manage scheduling for kitchen staff to ensure adequate coverage during peak hours.
Collaborate with other departments, such as front-of-house staff, to ensure smooth service delivery.
Manage and distribute tips between staff.
Work within guidelines/KPIs is relation to cost, margin and labour metrics.
Conduct regular performance evaluations of kitchen staff and provide constructive feedback as well as regular meetings with ownership/GM.
Qualifications
Proven experience in a leadership role within the food industry, preferably in a hotel or restaurant setting at the level outlined above.
Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques and cooking methods.
Excellent team management skills with the ability to motivate and inspire staff.
Experience in interviewing potential candidates for kitchen positions.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
Strong communication skills to effectively interact with team members and other departments.
A passion for culinary arts and commitment to delivering exceptional dining experiences.
