The Opportunity



We are currently looking to hire a

Cook

for our Rehabilitation Facility in Grouard, Alberta. This opportunity will be a

seven days on - seven days off

permanent position. You'll get to work with a growing organization where you will gain valuable experience in the field of rehabilitation care!

While working on-site, Kapown will provide complementary accommodations and food.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Cook is responsible for managing kitchen staff and providing meals for clients. This position is best suited for individuals who thrive in a full-cycle work environment providing well rounded service and healthy meals for residents.
Some key responsibilities include:

Responsible for setting up and organizing workstations, performing meal planning, and preparation of all daily meals and snacks in accordance with health & safety standards. As part of meal planning, responsible for preparing oven and grills and preparing ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables and seasoning meats. Preparing multi-ingredient recipes from raw ingredients using various cooking techniques. Preparing meals sometimes with precooked ingredients while utilizing re-thermalization techniques. Ensures all meals are appropriately portioned in accordance to each individual client need. Ensures routine housekeeping duties, including food storage, are accomplished after each meal/snack and in accordance with food health & safety standards. Ensures the kitchen is kept in clean and good order and that all safety requirements and standards are continuously met (i.e., clean oven, floors etc.). Also ensures that cafeteria is maintained for clients and staff by sweeping and mopping daily. Manages weekly orders for food and supplies and creates the menu for the upcoming week. Ensuring kitchen is up to code by recording temperature of fridges, expiry dates etc. Continuously checks inventory of shelves and takes notes of items to be ordered that week.

Qualifications



5-10 years of experience in the Food or Customer Service industry is considered an asset. Post-Secondary education in Culinary arts or Red Seal certification is preferred. First Aid, Crisis Intervention Training, Hostile Client & Disability Training. Preventing Workplace Violence Training. Workplace Health and Safety Training. Experience with preparing food and beverages for specialized diets. Experience with inventory management.

This position is located in Grouard, Alberta. Accommodations will be provided during your rotational shift on-site. Are you able to reliably commute to this location for employment?
