POSITION OVERVIEW:
Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Staff Accountant main responsibilities include full-cycle accounting, data entry, preparing working papers, completing checklists, clients' financial statements, tax returns and complying with clients' statutory filing requirements.
MAJOR TASKS & DUTIES:
Prepare year-end financial statements and related working papers
Assist in planning and executing audit and review engagements for various clients
Prepare corporate income tax, trusts, non-for-profit and other information returns and related schedules
Reconcile and balance all accounts in accordance with established standards
Prepare personal income tax returns and other information returns and schedules
Collaborate with senior team members to ensure compliance and accuracy
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and procedures
Experience working on compilation engagements
Experience working on audit and review engagements under APSE, ASNPO and IFRS is preferred
Advanced knowledge of relevant computer applications such as QuickBooks, QuickBooks Online, Simply Accounting, Word, Excel and CaseWare
Knowledge of data management and financial data analysis
Bachelor's degree in business and/or related field is required
CPA designation or working towards CPA certification
