Position Summary:



The Junior Sous Chef plays a key role in supporting the Sous Chef and Head Chef in the day-to-day operations of the kitchen. This position assists with food preparation, kitchen supervision, and ensuring high standards of food quality, hygiene, and consistency. The Junior Sous Chef is a leader on the line, helping mentor junior team members while ensuring smooth service delivery.

Key Responsibilities:



Assist the Sous Chef in overseeing kitchen operations during service. Supervise and lead line cooks and prep cooks in designated sections. Ensure all food is prepared to the highest quality and presentation standards. Maintain proper stock rotation and minimize food waste. Support in the creation of daily specials and contribute ideas for menu development. Ensure compliance with food safety standards and sanitation procedures. Help with ordering, inventory, and cost control as needed. Step in for the Sous Chef or Head Chef during their absence. Train, coach, and motivate junior kitchen staff. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment.

Qualifications:



Minimum 2-3 years of culinary experience in a professional kitchen. Diploma or certificate in culinary arts is preferred. Strong understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures. Proven ability to lead and motivate a kitchen team. Excellent communication and time-management skills. Food Handler Certification (or equivalent) required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $23.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 - 40 per week
