Under the direction of the Sales Agronomist or designate, the
Junior Sales Agronomist
provides routine agronomic support, service, and knowledge to customers under general supervision. General responsibilities include field scouting, agronomic troubleshooting, crop planning, fertility and crop protection recommendations, and providing generalized customer support and service.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Responsible for providing routine support, services, and knowledge of agronomic products to customers, including recommendations on seed, pest identification and crop protection, and crop nutrient/fertilizer
Customer support with field scouting, agronomic troubleshooting, crop planting, fertility and crop protection recommendations
Build and maintain industry knowledge of current best practices and trends
Develop relationships and maintain direct and regular contact with internal and external customers, contractors, and suppliers
Support the achievement of goals pertaining to sales and service targets for existing customers and expand sales to new customers
Plan for self-development and take initiatives to improve knowledge, skills & abilities
Support for events including field tours, informational meetings, trials, communications plans, etc.
Resolve customer complaints, and work with suppliers and the Sales Agronomist to ensure complaints are resolved in a timely manner, whether externally or in-house
Research and remain up to date on market trends from established sources
Use a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool, and ensure all members of the sales team have access
Attend and/or host all relevant trade shows that will enable increased sales and market share
Develop relationships with key partners and target new communities, industrial, commercial, municipal, and institutional bodies in the established sales trading region, to grow new partnerships and to develop tendering opportunities
Adhere to and enforce all Dawson Co-operative Union policies, procedures, and safety protocols
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Educational Requirements
Post-secondary degree in Agronomy, Agriculture, or another relevant field is required
P. Ag designation is an asset
1-2 years of relevant experience with agricultural sales, agronomy, or other relevant industry
Ability to use software and organizational tools for Customer Relationship Management (CRM) (i.e. Microsoft Programs, Tronia, etc.)
Ability to use a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool to track all sales contacts centrally
Self-directed and motivated with the ability to problem solve under general supervision
Valid Class Five driver's license with a clean abstract is required
Strong ability to manage relationship at all levels
Compensation & Benefits:
Between $20.05 to $31.58 per hour based on qualifications and experience
