We seek an experienced and motivated junior construction project manager to join our community for a 1 Year Contract with the potential to renew. This position reports to the Director, Property and Facilities and is responsible for assisting in the planning, coordinating and managing construction projects from start to finish. Your responsibilities will include managing timelines, monitoring progress, managing project documentation and facilitating communication amongst team members and stakeholders to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. This role involves helping with risk management, quality control and budget creation. This position also works closely with the school's financial team.

Objectives of this role



Represent the interests of Pickering College throughout all project life cycles Assists with the planning, coordinating and managing all phases of construction projects, including project initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and closeout. Coordinates establishing project objectives, scope and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders Liaising with architects, engineers, contractors and subcontractors to monitor design development, schematic design and construction progress; assist in resolving issues and ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards. Assisting with the development and managing of project schedules, budgets and resource allocations to ensure cost efficiency and timely delivery. Managing procurement processes, develops RFP's, coordinates RFP analysis and select contractors. Conducting regular site inspections to assess project progress, help to identify risks, and ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulatory requirements. Maintain effective communication with the Assistant Head of School, Finance, the Director, Property & Facilities and stakeholders to provide project updates, address concerns and foster strong working relationships. Provide administrative support as needed including coordination of permits, as-builts, close out documents, storage and updating of drawings, asset inventory records

Job Duties



Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, resource allocations and procurement strategies. Coordinate design development and schematic design phases as required Coordinate and assist with overseeing construction activities, ensuring adherence to project schedules and specifications. Coordinate project and related meetings Monitor project progress, track key performance indicators (KPIs), risk indicators and report on project status to Director, Property & Facilities and Assistant Head, Finance & operations Assist in creating and managing project budgets and cost control and assist in managing change orders to ensure adherence to budgetary constraints. Assist with compliance with safety regulations and legal requirements, prioritizing a safe working environment for all involved. Assist with the Management of construction project documentation, including contracts, permits, drawings and change orders. Assist with project evaluations and assessments to identify areas for improvement and implement necessary corrective measures.

Required skills and qualifications



A bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field. 1-3 years of relevant experience supporting the delivery of projects in areas such as construction, engineering or architecture. Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, building codes Excellent project management skills, including effective planning, organizing and prioritizing tasks. Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical documents, including project blueprints and construction schematics. Strong communication skills to manage project teams and stakeholders.
Preferred Skills:

Relevant professional certification in project management or construction management, like Project Management Professional (PMP). Highly organized, team oriented Strong proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, OneDrive
