Position: The Junior Project Manager coordinates internal projects on the Research & Development Engineering team. This individual will focus on Demand Response pilots and programs for launch throughout 2023, 2024, and 2025 and will be responsible for planning and overseeing that this project is completed in a timely fashion and within budget (the individual is not expected to be a subject matter expert in Demand Response). This job requires the incumbent to be an analytical thinker who is technically orientated with effective project management skills for completing tasks on time and within budget in a fast-paced environment. A snapshot of what you will be involved with:
  • Lead multi-disciplinary teams in the development of pilots and programs by:
  • Engaging key staff across the organization to design and develop project parameters
  • Planning and managing the activities of cross-functional project teams, including:
  • Training team members on key processes
  • Managing the performance of team members to ensure project completion on time, on budget, and at the highest possible level of quality
  • Create and maintain project plans in MS Project for the Web (P4W):
  • Report on timelines and key deliverables in P4W or Microsoft Power BI
  • Organize meetings within the project group, including:
o Meeting Scheduling o Creating, maintaining, and updating meeting agendas o Recording deliverables and assigning them to owners
  • Monitor the progress of initiative development and identify any issues that require escalation (e.g., an issue arises that requires the project sponsor, a subject matter expert from another department, or a decision from the governance committee)
  • Develop and optimize internal operational tools, processes, resources, etc., continually improving in support of organizational goals through effective reporting, information flow and management, business processes, and organizational planning.
What Will Help You Succeed?
  • A Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in a relevant field of study or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Project Management Professional certification or equivalent would be considered an asset
  • 5 years of relevant project coordination/management experience
  • Proficiency with the MS Office 365 suite and related software
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Strong work ethic, positive can-do attitude, and excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other members of the engineering and planning team, as well as working groups including other departments as needed
  • Demonstrates integrity, quality, and attention to detail
  • Comfortable working on demanding deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in Power BI is considered an asset
What to expect in your first several weeks on the job: In the first week, expect to:
  • Meet the R&D Engineering team
  • Familiarize yourself with Efficiency Nova Scotia programs and services
  • Familiarize yourself with Efficiency Nova Scotia\xe2\x80\x99s 2023/2025 DSM plan and its commitment to Demand Response
In the first month, expect to:
  • Prepare DR project plans for approval by E1 executives and department heads
  • Support current DR pilots and programs which are in development or being delivered
In the first three months, expect to:
  • Manage project plans, including:
o Running project team meetings o Assigning tasks to project team members o Tracking and reporting on milestones and deliverables
  • Complete DR program and pilot designs with support from project teams
  • When appropriate, transition projects from design to delivery teams for implementation
