Job Description

This opportunity is to become an important team member at Island Technical Installations Ltd (ITI) as a Junior Mechanical Designer. ITI is a rapidly growing company in the Canadian and American electrical market that is looking to bring on qualified and experienced personnel to take the next step in growth.

This is a permanent full-time position based out of the Saanichton, BC office and will consist of a blend of office, shop, and field work.

The Junior Mechanical Designer position will provide exposure to a broad spectrum of the business operations in direct support of the Mechanical Engineering Manager. Responsibilities will include:

Work collaboratively and independently on projects of varied complexity to ensure timely delivery. Support the planning, design, prototyping, and testing phases of mechanical engineering projects. Ensure designs comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and best practices. Ensure effective use of design software and tools such as CAD (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.) to create and mechanical designs and documentation. Support the testing, analysis, and validation of mechanical designs and components. Troubleshoot and resolve design, manufacturing, or testing issues. Support the Mechanical Engineering Manager in implementing process improvements and corrective actions to prevent issues and enhance product quality. Communicate project status, risks, and technical details to the Mechanical Engineering Manager and stakeholders. Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including electrical and mechanical design, manufacturing, and assembly, to ensure smooth project execution. Prepare technical documentation, manuals, and reports. Maintain accurate project records and documentation for internal use and compliance purposes. Identify and support cost-saving processes through design optimizations and process improvements.

Requirements:



Bachelor degree in mechanical engineering or diploma in mechanical engineering technology Registered/ability to register as either: 1) E.I.T. with the Engineers and Geoscientists of BC (EGBC). 2) ASct with the Applied Science Technologists & Technicians of British Columbia Excellent communication, problem solving, and organizational skills Must be a team player, willing to work with others in a fast-paced environment Intermediate/advanced computer skills Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite Experience/expertise in CAD software, Solidworks specifically, and working knowledge of AutoCAD is considered an asset Experience in electrical equipment design and/or sheet metal design considered an asset Hands-on or field experience is considered an asset Valid class 5 Driver's License and clean Driver's Abstract Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
