Junior Mechanical Designer

Edmonton, AB, CA, Canada

Job Description

Are you passionate about turning ideas into precise, high-quality technical drawings? Do you thrive in a team that values learning, collaboration, and technical excellence? Remedy Engineering is looking for a Junior Mechanical Designer to join our growing team. This is an opportunity to build your career in consulting engineering while working alongside experienced designers and engineers on innovative HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection projects.

About the Role:

As a Junior Mechanical Designer, you'll support the successful delivery of projects by preparing and maintaining accurate design drawings, supporting design development, and contributing to Remedy's commitment to technical excellence. You'll learn directly from senior team members, participate in design coordination, and help ensure our projects run smoothly and efficiently.

You'll be part of a team that values precision, curiosity, and continuous improvement - and you'll have room to grow your skills in AutoCAD, Revit, and mechanical design fundamentals.

What You'll Be Doing:

As a Junior Mechanical Designer, your day-to-day will focus on supporting design and drafting for HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems. You will:

Prepare, revise, and maintain mechanical drawings using AutoCAD and Revit. Translate markups, sketches, and concepts from senior designers and engineers into accurate, professional drawings. Flag missing information or coordination issues to keep projects on track. Maintain clear, organized drawing files and version histories. Participate in internal coordination meetings to understand design intent and project requirements. Learn the fundamentals of mechanical design and building code requirements through mentorship and hands-on project work. Contribute to the continuous improvement of drawing standards, templates, and workflows. Assist with field measurements, documentation, and small project tasks as your experience grows.

What Success Looks Like in This Role:

You consistently produce clean, accurate, and well-organized mechanical drawings that meet Remedy's drafting standards. You communicate clearly and proactively with project managers, designers, and engineers. You're curious and coachable - eager to learn design principles, ask good questions, and apply feedback. You manage your workload responsibly, meet deadlines, and flag potential issues early. Your work contributes to smooth project delivery, helping senior designers and engineers focus on high-level design. You take pride in your craft and demonstrate professionalism and accountability every day.

What We Want to Hear About in the Interview

How you approach learning something new and applying feedback in real time. Examples of how you've demonstrated attention to detail - whether in school, work, or projects. Examples of when you communicated effectively to get clarity, solve a problem, or support a teammate. Why you're interested in growing in mechanical design and where you see yourself developing in this field. How you stay organized when handling multiple tasks or deadlines. Examples of projects you have contributed to.

Your Qualifications

Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or a related field. Familiarity with AutoCAD and/or Revit (training available if needed). Strong organization and time-management skills. A collaborative mindset and genuine curiosity to learn.

Why Join Remedy Engineering?

A supportive environment where learning and mentorship are part of everyday work. Exposure to a wide range of mechanical design projects. Opportunities to grow your technical skills and responsibilities over time. A team that values integrity, curiosity, collaboration, and excellence.
