Nikbakht Law Inc. is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented
Junior Lawyer
to join our growing legal team. We specialize in
provincial violation defence
(including moving and traffic offences),
criminal defence
, and
civil litigation in Small Claims Court
.
This role is ideal for a recent law graduate or early-career lawyer who wants to develop practical courtroom and advocacy skills in a supportive, hands-on environment. The successful candidate will assist in client representation, research, drafting, and court appearances, contributing directly to the firm's mission of providing accessible, high-quality legal advocacy across Saskatchewan.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct
legal research
and assist in developing defence strategies for matters under The Traffic Safety Act, Summary Offences Procedure Act, and the Criminal Code*. Draft and prepare legal documents, including
defence submissions, pleadings, affidavits, and Small Claims materials
.
Review disclosure, analyze evidence, and prepare detailed case summaries for trial and pre-trial proceedings.
Appear in
Traffic Court, Provincial Court, and Small Claims Court
, under supervision, to assist or make submissions on behalf of clients.
Participate in
client meetings, negotiations, and resolution discussions
, ensuring clear communication and professional representation.
Maintain organized electronic and physical files, ensuring accuracy and compliance with procedural timelines.
Support senior counsel with trial preparation, exhibits, and witness coordination.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) or Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited institution.
Member in good standing (or eligible for admission) with a Canadian Law Society.
Prior experience or coursework in
criminal law, administrative law, or provincial offences
is an asset.
Strong
legal research and writing
skills, with familiarity in CanLII, LexisNexis, or Westlaw.
Confident communication skills, professional courtroom demeanor, and a proactive attitude toward client service.
Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational abilities in a fast-paced legal environment.
