We are currently seeking a bright, hardworking Junior Law Clerk to join our dynamic practice. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a rewarding, collegial, and fast-paced environment.


Position Requirements:





The ideal candidate should have at least one year of experience in Canadian or U.S. immigration law. Experience with both Canadian and U.S. immigration is considered a strong asset.


Key Competencies:




Experience

: A background as a Legal Administrative Assistant or Law Clerk (or a combination of relevant education and experience) is highly preferred.

Immigration Law Knowledge

: Minimum of one year's experience in Canadian or U.S. immigration law; familiarity with both is an asset.

Self-Starter

: Able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.

Software Proficiency

: Ability to quickly learn and utilize various software programs used by the firm.

Communication Skills

: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to engage effectively with clients, colleagues, and government agencies.

Education

: A certificate or degree in legal administration, law clerk studies, or a related law field is a plus.

Technical Skills

: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) with strong experience in calendar management and legal practice management systems.

Attention to Detail

: Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and precision.

Judgment & Initiative

: Ability to make sound decisions, take initiative, and remain proactive.

Organization

: Excellent time management, organizational, and multitasking skills.

Professionalism

: A professional, friendly demeanor with a strong ability to build productive relationships.

Key Responsibilities:




Assist our immigration lawyer with complex Canadian and U.S. immigration matters. Prepare and process immigration applications, manage case correspondence, and maintain document files. Draft relevant materials in support of applications. Manage client files and practice activities efficiently. Communicate with USCIS, CBP, IRCC, and other relevant government agencies on client matters. Handle calendar management and email correspondence. Provide general administrative support to the legal team.
