Workforce Inc. is currently seeking a Junior Geologist with 1-2 years' experience to join a diverse and knowledgeable team in Timmins, ON. This position provides an exciting opportunity for career development and advancement.

Purpose:

In this role, you will be part of a culturally diverse Team comprised of full time and contract staff tasked to safely execute brownfields and Near Mine programs, along with the processing and interpretation of data. The successful candidate will partake in a safety culture of continuous improvement with safe execution and environmental stewardship being the base for all work programs. As the Geologist, you will be expected to operate at a high level while performing moderately complex geology/geophysics/geochemistry duties related to larger projects or work independently on all aspects of smaller projects. Duties require the application of scientific knowledge and theory with latitude for independent judgement and decisions with minimal supervision. The key performance metrics are safe execution of work and delivery of resource ounces into the plan. This includes but is not limited to, safety inspections, core logging, data compilation, drill rig supervision, and the maintaining of data bases.

Key Responsibilities:

The candidate must possess:

The ability to participate and contribute in exploration planning sessions and execution of surface programs

Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety by actively engaging staff and participating in safety programs

Promote stewardship of the environment and follow standards and guidelines

The ability to conduct QA/QC evaluation on various data types

The ability to compile data sets and generate targets

Take part in the execution and tracking of brownfields and near-mine programs, and other essential project work with minimum supervision

Follow established Geology Global Standards and Guidelines and ensure compliance of requirements

Perform data entry and data management functions as necessary, including core logging

Work and communicate effectively with internal and external personnel

Write comprehensive reports for review by senior management

Collect, compile, and analyze exploration data and results

Demonstrate the ability to update 3 dimensional geologic models using current software. Ensure all data has been validated or reviewed for model construction according to established procedures and workflows

The ability to contribute to morning huddles, department meetings and strategy sessions

All other tasks related to the regional exploration programs in the mine area as required by their supervisor

Key Qualifications and Experience:

Must have obtained a Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Geosciences

1-2 years of industry experience in an exploration environment

Must be working towards professional registration in Ontario

Strong mineral identification and mineral systems understanding

Knowledge of ArcGIS, Leapfrog, and ioGAS an asset

Computer literacy, experience with Microsoft software is required. Database knowledge an asset

Great interpersonal skills, innovative and proven ability to work with others

Demonstrates a comfortable and confident communication style

Clean driving abstract

Schedule: 4/3 or 5/2

Salary: $36.00 - $38.00 an hour
