We are currently looking for someone to take on the role of full-time Program Director at Camp YMCA Kanawana. The selected candidate will bring their vision and energy to a camp with over 125 years of tradition and a thriving, supportive community. Could this be you?



RESPONSABILITIES

• Under the supervision of the Camp Director and Assistant Director, hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates staff teams for the camp's different seasonal activities.
• Supports the continuing of camp's operations when the Camp Director and/or Assistant Director are indisposed.
• Ensures the physical and emotional safety and well-being of campers, staff, and rental group participants at all times while on site.
• Ensures that policies regarding program delivery, care of youth, and staff conduct are respected at all times.
• Coordinates camp logistics, creates and modifies camp schedules, and organizes camp-wide activities.
• Collaborates in a dynamic way with the Camp YMCA Kanawana and YMCA Camps management teams and represents the YMCA with current and potential clients and partners.
• Offers input in major decision-making processes regarding the addition, expansion, or discontinuation of any of the camp's programs.
• Assists in managing logistically demanding situations both on camp and off camp, such as emergency procedures and out trip evacuations.
• Assists in purchasing and in-summer budget tracking
• Cooperates in leading the management team and preventing and resolving issues as they arise throughout the natural course of the summer
• Adheres to policies and procedures of the YMCAs of Quebec regarding the protection of youth
• Understands and exemplifies camp's mission and values in the role of a senior manager on-site


REQUIREMENTS

• Have at least 3 years of experience in a camp setting or 3 years of related experience with childcare and staff management, program creation & delivery, and logistical management.
• Written languages: English (Advanced), French (Intermediate)
• Spoken languages: English (Advanced), French (Intermediate)
• Good knowledge of excel

• Hold a valid drivers license


COMPETENCIES

• Have the ability to work autonomously within established parameters, identify relevant issues, and communicate them effectively to supervisors.
• Have strong logistical planning and problem-solving skills.
• Quick learner, willing to engage with and learn camp culture and traditions and comfortable voicing your opinion and collaborating in moving camp forward.
• Curious, creative, innovative and collaborative.
