About Us: Maskwa High Voltage (MHV) is an engineering consulting firm with offices in Calgary and Regina that provides design and engineering services to the electric power delivery industry. Our expertise includes all aspects of Transmission, Substation and Distribution systems for voltages ranging from 4160V to 500kV. Opportunity: MHV is currently seeking a Junior Electrical Engineer in training or a Design Technologistto join our team in Calgary. We offer a dynamic work environment with a highly experienced technical team, where you will be offered guidance and hands on training and continuously challenged in all aspects of the engineering and design process. Responsibilities: \xc2\xb7 Develop new designs by applying knowledge of utility electrical systems and their operation \xc2\xb7 Review designs against applicable industry codes and standards as well as internal MHV standards. \xc2\xb7 Apply engineering calculations to various project challenges to develop complete and competent designs \xc2\xb7 Complete engineering calculations for transmission and distribution lines. \xc2\xb7 Use a variety of tools and software in design such as PLS Cadd, ETAP, CDEGS etc. \xc2\xb7 Prepare estimates, material take offs, scopes of work, survey packages and design packages. \xc2\xb7 Assist in the preparation of engineering reports. \xc2\xb7 Prepare design packages for construction \xc2\xb7 Conduct site visits for field reconnaissance during the project design phase and field inspections during the project construction phase Qualifications: \xc2\xb7 Technical college diploma (Electrical) or a university degree in Electrical Engineering \xc2\xb7 Ability to work in design teams and take the initiative to learn the position \xc2\xb7 Self-motivated to perform assigned tasks \xc2\xb7 Experience using the Microsoft Office software suite and CAD drafting tool such as Microstation and AutoCAD. \xc2\xb7 Excellent verbal and written communication skills \xc2\xb7 Attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills will be critical for successful completion of tasks \xc2\xb7 Strong computer design skills, the ability to learn new software packages efficiently, and retain and apply on the job training \xc2\xb7 Previous design experience with substation, transmission or distribution lines is considered an asset. \xc2\xb7 Previous experience with AutoCAD, Microstation, CDEGS or PLS Cadd software is considered an asset Job Type: Full- time, Permanent No. of Positions: Two (2) Location: Calgary, Alberta Why Maskwa?
