Dynamic Earth Solutions (DES) specializes in site planning, spatial information and digital terrain modeling, surface and subsurface investigations, rock mechanics, underground structures, geotechnical laboratory services, flood forecasting and water resource management through our geotechnical, hydrotechnical, and civil site development expertise.

SEM-Hatch is a joint venture between Hatch Ltd. and Sikumiut Environmental Management Ltd. providing engineering, construction and project management services in the province of Newfoundland & Labrador. SEM-Hatch is performing Engineering and Project Management Services for the Voisey\xe2\x80\x99s Bay Mine Expansion project. This mine expansion project is expected to produce about 40,000 tonnes of nickel per year and extend the life of the Voisey\xe2\x80\x99s Bay operation until at least 2032.

We are interested in receiving resumes for Junior Designer. This is a site project term position on a 2 week in 2 week out rotation, with 12 hour long shifts. The site is accessed via air from designated pick-up points in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare site loop drawings, small construction work packages, contract drawings, file management and check prints
  • Prepare Management of Change documents, Engineering Change Notices, and reviewing Contractor submissions
  • Support site Engineering team to update datasheets, collect designs from Vendor and timely responses to queries
  • Support automation programming / troubleshooting in an underground and/or surface environment (working with Lead)
Qualifications and Experience
  • Diploma in Instrumentation and Control Technology from an accredited college
  • Proficient in the use of 2D software package (AutoCAD/Microstation)
  • Excellent planning and time management skills
  • Ability to effectively work and discuss with other team members to complete assigned tasks and deliverables on time
  • Have taken introduction courses to AB PLC / Delta V DCS and have programming capabilities
  • Understand measurement principle in instrumentation, sensors and valve technology
  • Knowledge of networking principles is considered an asset
  • Adaptable and excellent communication and interpersonal skills in a multitasking environment.
  • Fast learner and can be trained quickly
  • Ability to present and conduct technical training of others
  • Experience in MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint is required
