Job Overview



We're a small, but busy accounting company that works primarily with Film/TV industry clients.

We're seeking a responsible, detail-oriented individual with excellent written and spoken English to join our team as a full-time junior bookkeeper. This is an entry-level position ideal for a recent grad, or someone who has completed an accounting or bookkeeping course and is keen to put theory into practice. A post-secondary degree in accounting is advantageous, but bookkeeping experience will be taken into consideration. A background in film/TV work is also advantageous.

The position is the best suited to someone with a positive, egalitarian attitude: We have seven full-time and part-time staff (and 2 friendly dogs) who work in-office. Our office culture is professional, yet easy-going, and our staff share day-to-day office duties. Very importantly, you must like large dogs.

The office itself is home-based, located near Granville Island close to transit and Aquabus.

Responsibilities:



Data entry to QuickBooks, Xero, Wave, ProFile, and spreadsheets. Prepare clients paperwork and receipts for taxes. Keep financial records, maintain and balance various accounts using manual and computerized bookkeeping systems. Manage government compliance for clients (GST, T-slips, Worksafe BC etc.). Filing and management of client documents. Communicate with clients via email and phone. Assist with general office coordinator tasks. Other financial and administrative tasks as required. Share in preparation of office lunches. Occasional dog walking.

Essential



Accounting degree preferred, but course certificates in accounting or bookkeeping, or equivalent work experience also accepted. Strong numeracy. Proficiency with Google Suite or MS 365 applications, especially Sheets or Excel. Aptitude for learning new software. Written and spoken fluency in English. Must be comfortable around large dogs. Must be comfortable in a home-office environment.

Desirable:



Experience with Quickbooks, QBO, Xero, Wave or other accounting programs. Experience using Trello or other productivity apps. Study or work experience in the film/TV industry
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00-$22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 - 40 per week
