Position Summary:
The Junior Accountant will provide essential support to the Accounting Manager in managing day-to-day accounting operations. This role is responsible for assisting with full-cycle accounts payable and receivable, invoicing, progress billings, payroll support, and statutory filings including GST, PST, WCB, EHT, and other compliance requirements.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, proactive, and able to operate efficiently in a fast-paced, multi-currency environment across wholesale, retail, distribution, and installation operations. Reporting directly to the Accounting Manager, this position requires the ability to take initiative, multi-task, prioritize, and to take a great deal of pride in the work they perform.
The general responsibilities of the Junior Accountant include, but are not limited to, the following:
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with reconciling CAD and USD accounts, manage EFT payments, and communicate with customers and vendors.
Assist with processing and code vendor invoices, reconcile statements, run weekly payments, and maintain records.
Issuing daily customer invoices, applying payments, reconciling AR, and pursuing collections.
Support Accounting Manager to prepare claims, reconcile revenue and job costs, and coordinate with project managers and sales teams.
Assist with semi-monthly payroll, verify hours and deductions, prepare ROEs and T4/T4A, ensuring labor compliance.
Assist to Prepare GST/PST/HST/EHT returns, assist with WCB reporting and payroll remittances.
Support month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, reporting, and accounting firm Review preparation.
Other responsibilities as assigned by the Accounting Manager
Qualifications:
Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. (CPA candidate is an asset)
1-3 years of full-cycle accounting experience
Knowledge of AP, AR, progress billing, and payroll processes.
Experience with GST/PST filings and payroll compliance (CPP/EI/WCB) is an asset.
Proficiency in Excel and accounting/ERP systems (Acumatica experience is an asset).
Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
Good communication skills in English

Compensation:
Salary: $53,000 - $58,000 CAD annually, commensurate with experience
Vacation: 3 weeks + an additional paid week between Christmas & New Year (company closure for holidays)
