Job Description

The

Junior Accountant

will be responsible for supporting the finance team in enhancing the quality of financial reporting and maintaining an adequate system of accounting records.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:



1. Reconcile balance sheet accounts



Reconcile bank accounts weekly Reconcile inter-company accounts weekly Reconcile premium financing company accounts weekly

2. Reporting



Update various balance sheet schedules including fixed asset schedule, Accrual schedule, Prepaid schedule Undertake special projects relating to streamlining finance processes Update process and control documentation relating to financial reporting Audit financial processes to highlight deficiencies

3. Coordinate with outsourced service provider



Coordinate with outsourced service providers to: Follow up, obtain, and send missing insurer statements Follow up, obtain, and send Financing company statements Review work performed by the outsourced team

4. Provide audit support



Provide support for the annual financial audit Coordinate activities around the annual audit Gather and manage documentation to support the audit Maintain audit files and related documentation

Other Responsibilities



Attend and participate in Traction EOS, staff meetings, and other company functions Uphold the organization's core values Maintain confidentiality of sensitive company and client information Comply with the company policies and procedures as established (Employee Handbook, policies and procedures, etc.) Take all steps to avoid, and report to the COO, any potential Errors & Omissions or bad debt situations Other related duties as required

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS



1. Significant balance sheet accounts reconciled every month

2. Completion of special projects on time

3. No material errors in the work performed by the outsourced service provider

4. Audited financial statement drafts available by Mar 31

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE



Bachelor's Degree in Commerce / Accounting or Accounting diploma 3+ years of accounting experience Strong computer skills and proficient with Microsoft Excel Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Strong analytical skills with attention to detail Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic fast-paced environment Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision
