Summing it up

The Junior Accountant supports daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger entries. This role is ideal for someone with foundational accounting experience who is eager to learn and grow in a collaborative environment. The Junior Accountant works closely with the finance team to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance in all financial transactions.

What you'll be doing

Process accounts payable and receivable, including invoice entry and payments. Prepare and post routine journal entries. Reconcile bank accounts and monitor cash balances. Manage employee expense claims and corporate credit card reconciliations. Assist with payroll-related entries and reconciliations. Support month-end close activities, including accruals and intercompany entries. Prepare internal financial reports and resolve discrepancies. Assist with audits by preparing supporting documentation. Participate in system updates and process improvements. Handle special projects as requested by management. Additional duties as deemed necessary; responsibilities may change with business needs.

Who you are

Education: Diploma or bachelor's degree in accounting. Experience: 1-2 years in accounting or bookkeeping. Experience in property management, hospitality, or strata-titled environments is an asset. Skills: Attention to detail, reliability, strong communication, teamwork, adaptability, and discretion with confidential information. Software Proficiency: Microsoft Excel, Microsoft 365, and accounting software (e.g., Oracle NetSuite). Familiarity with HRIS systems ADP and Property Management Systems (PMS) is a plus. Other Requirements: Valid Class 5 driver's license or reliable transportation to downtown Calgary.
