We are looking for a talent with solid professional skills in manufacturing. The primary responsibility of this role is to work closely with the manufacturing engineer(s) and Director of Manufacturing Engineering and work on assigned projects of various complexities. This position reports to the Director of Ops. What you will be doing:

  • Ensure availability of tooling and consumables required to minimize setup times within Fabrication.
  • Manage tooling inventory within Fabrication across all areas including ensuring accuracy and update of individual storage areas.
  • Review of tooling/consumables to ensure all parts/components are in a state of good repair before use, and if necessary, arrange for any or all maintenance and repair-related tasks to be completed including coordination of all related activities.
  • Work closely with ME managers on any tooling or process-related projects within Fabrication.
  • Aid in the preparation of any documentation, processes, or other aspects of the department as they relate to tooling or other manufacturing engineering endeavours.
  • Assist as necessary in the creation or update of standards as they relate to setups or run times within the department.
  • Assist manufacturing engineers in capacity utilization studies, bottleneck analysis, line balancing, cycle time reduction & OEE improvement initiatives
  • Assist manufacturing engineers in reviewing daily shift and quality reports for top process and equipment issues. Collaborate with the Operations manager, production supervisor and lead hand on resolving the issues.
  • Assist manufacturing engineers in reviewing machine, shop capacity utilization studies, bottleneck analysis, line balancing, cycle time reduction & OEE improvement initiatives and provide ideas for optimum use of capital and lead VA/VE initiatives
  • Assist manufacturing engineers with process and equipment root cause analysis initiatives and implement solutions to improve and sustain OEE to AEC standards
  • Review of open issues matrix for assigned projects and tasks and ensure timely completion as agreed with the direct manager
  • Assist manufacturing engineers in 8D, 5 Why\xe2\x80\x99s, RCA, and CI meetings for customer complaints, and failures and collaborate to provide appropriate input to resolve issues
  • Support the implementation of best practices for the department and the development, monitoring and application of KPIs (productivity, cost, quality, safety)
  • Other duties as assigned by Management
What you bring along:
  • Diploma in Mechanical Industrial or Mechatronics Engineering would be an asset.
  • Minimum (3) years of hands-on verifiable manufacturing engineering experience in a metal fabrication environment
  • Intermediate in MS Office packages (word, excel, PowerPoint)
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimum supervision
  • Able to work under extreme demands and tight schedules
  • Able to accept directions and change directions as required
  • Excellent English language, communication, and presentation skills (both verbal and written)
  • Basic understanding of WHMIS, IMDS, Ergonomics, Healthy and Safety regulations
  • Other duties as required
  • Some travel may be required
