Job Title Jr. Analyst, Data Lineage & Control




































Data Lineage Documentation Understand and document the lineage of CDEs from originating source to point of consumption of data into a report or other risk management activity. Data lineage includes:

  • Business process which capture, edit or otherwise amend the data
  • Systems that form part of the data flow
  • Filters and transformations implemented in systems as part of the data flow
  • Risks that may impact the data
  • Controls to mitigate identified risks
Relationship Management
  • Collaborate with other Data Management Offices, Data Custodians and Data Stewards to understand data lineage reporting standards and best practices.
  • Presentation of Data Lineage details as required.
Process Optimization
  • Leverage data lineage artifacts captured by other Data Management Offices and share artifacts captured by Risk Data Management Office to avoid duplication of effort.
  • Identify & communicate options to optimize the process of data lineage capture and documentation.
Team and Delivery Management
  • Assist in capturing data lineage for new CDEs as required, and validation of existing data lineage documentation annually.
  • Develop knowledge and become valuable team resource, supporting development of Data Lineage in general.
Time Allocation
  • 55% Documentation, 25% Relationship Management, 10% Process Optimization, 10% Delivery Management
Must-Have
  • Post-Secondary education or equivalent
  • Prior School or Work experience analyzing data.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills coupled with the ability to communicate effectively with both business and technology staff.
  • Basic knowledge of retail and commercial banking policies, processes and procedures.
  • Strong ability to utilize the Microsoft Suite of tools (Powerpoint, Word, Excel)
Nice to Have
  • Familiarity with data manipulation and analysis tools such as Excel, Visio, SQL, Python, etc.
  • Familiarity with data governance and metadata management tools such as Collibra.
  • Familiarity with agile methodology and agility tools such as Jira.





































Job Summary Data Lineage is critical to understanding the data lifecycle. The Junior Analyst, Data Lineage & Control is responsible for documenting all aspects of the data lineage lifecycle from the original source of the data to the point of consumption of the data into a report, including any associated data transformations. This role will maintain relationships with various business & IT stakeholders to understand & communicate details of data lineage.
