Job Title Senior Analyst, Data Lineage



What is the opportunity?

The role of Senior Analyst will be responsible for coaching and developing team members (Lineage Analysts) responsible for all aspects of the data lineage lifecycle from the original source of the data to the point of consumption of the data into a report, including any associated data transformations. The role will support other Data Shared Services capabilities as required like: Data Controls and Processes, Access Management, Reference Data, Data Operations, Data Quality. This role will also work closely with various Stakeholders to contribute towards policies, standards and procedures in support of Data Lineage.

What will you do?

Data Lineage Documentation

  • Review, understand and challenge documented lineage of CDEs from originating source to point of consumption of data into a report or other risk management activity. Documented Data Lineage includes:
  • Business processes which capture, edit or otherwise amend the data
  • Systems that form part of the data flow
  • Filters and transformations implemented in systems as part of the data flow
  • Risks that may impact the data
  • Controls to mitigate identified risks
  • Review & Presentation of consolidate lineage and control information
  • Leverage data lineage artifacts captured by other Data Management Offices and share artifacts captured by Risk Data Management Office to avoid duplication of effort.
Review and Maintain the effectiveness of Business Processes
  • Assist with the timely closure of audit items
  • Continually monitor the efficiency and effectiveness of business processes and suggest improvements
  • Assist to identify, prioritize & deliver options to optimize service delivery processes and documentation.
Relationship Management
  • Act as a secondary contact for all aspects of data lineage use, reporting, auditing and related issue management in support of manager
  • Collaborate with other Data Management Offices, Data Custodians and Data Stewards to align to data lineage reporting standards and best practices.
  • Collaborate with SAKC and DQ Teams throughout Documented Data Lineage capture on risk mitigation and control gap identification.
What do you need to succeed?

Must have
  • Post Secondary Education or equivalent.
  • 4-6 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience handling and deriving information from large data sets.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills coupled with the ability to communicate effectively with both business and technology staff at different levels of seniority.
  • Experience leading & managing teams of up to five professionals.
  • Understanding of retail and commercial banking policies, processes and procedures.
Nice to have
  • Experience with Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) controls and compliance.
Familiarity with data manipulation and analysis tools such as Datameer, SQL, Python etc.

Familiarity with data governance and metadata management tools such as Collibra.
