Foothills School Division (FSD) serves the learning needs of approximately 8000 students from preschool to grade 12. We operate 22 public schools, an online digital school, an alternative campus, and three colony schools. These are located in the towns of Okotoks, High River, and Diamond Valley, and the communities of Blackie, Cayley, Heritage Heights, Red Deer Lake, Longview, Millarville and Foothills County.
The Role
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced
Journeyman Plumber
to join our Facility Services team. Under the direction and supervision of the Director of Facility Services, you will play a crucial role in constructing, upgrading, and maintaining our school division facility assets. This is a hands-on, working position that will provide services to all facilities within our Division.
To prepare for this role, you hold an interprovincial red seal Journeyman certificate with a minimum Class B gasfitter designation. You have experience in building energy efficiency, boilers/pumps, HVAC systems, and controls. Class 5 power engineering, refrigeration, cross-connection, and Class A gasfitter certifications are considered an asset. You have a strong background in commercial plumbing to ensure that facilities are safe and fully operational. Tasks will include the operations and maintenance of both the interior and exterior areas of all facilities. A valid class 5 driver's license supported by a clear driver's abstract is required and the ability to provide a satisfactory criminal record check.
In addition to formal certifications, you have excellent communication skills, are well organized, and have basic computer skills required for data entry. Awareness of Health and Safety within a working environment and operating under the OH&S Act and Legislation is essential for this role.
Due to the nature of this role responding to after hours emergency calls, preference will be given to those who reside in the Division's geographical boundaries.
