Job Summary:
The Job Coach is responsible for connecting Tsleil-Waututh community members and other First Nations to jobs and careers in the hospitality, trades, administrative and industrial sectors. Working collaboratively with the Employment & Training Project Manager, the Job Coach promotes training programs and ensures that TWN community members & other First Nations have current relevant information about the local labour market. The individual establishes effective relationships with clients/students, staff, local employers, program partners and industry associations
Duties & Responsibilities:
Interact with TWN Community Members & other First Nations, departmental staff, external agencies and employers on behalf of the Tsleil-Waututh Nation to ensure awareness of the program goals, activities, and the identification of skill development opportunities for clients.
Work directly with clients/students to arrange assessment sessions, define personal employment goals, and create job action plans, resumes, cover letters and interview materials. Provide guidance to clients/students on pre-employment and employment training plans.
Work to recruit, interview and accept potential students in TWNSC training programs - ensuring commitment level is there to complete and being aware of any barriers that we can assist with.
Reach out to industry/current partners to educate them on our programs and inquire about work practicums and/or paid employment in hospitality, trades, administrative and industrial sectors.
Build strong relationships with clients/students and assist in their developments of workforce skills and achievement of goals.
Maintaining client files as per policy and procedures.
Responsible for weekly nutrition for training programs.
Responsible for student attendance and timesheet for training allowances.
Other related duties as required.
Qualifications:
Post-secondary education in related field and/or a minimum of three (3) years of relevant work experience. A combination of relevant education and experience will be considered.
Experience in client documentation procedures.
Experience in working with multi-cultural and/or highly-barriered participants
Must demonstrate flexibility, openness and cooperativeness.
Must maintain a high level of confidentiality.
Must be willing to participate in job-related workshops, training, seminars and conferences to upgrade skills and training as required.
Must be able to work occasional evening and weekend shifts.
A valid BC driver's license and vehicle is required.
Previous experience working in a First Nations community and/or organization is preferred.
Must successfully pass a Criminal Record Check.

Current knowledge of the local labour market, resource agencies, education and training institutions that may be accessible to clients/students.
Knowledge of Tsleil-Waututh Nation culture and traditional territory an asset.
Knowledge of ARMS Database and Reports.

Stress may be caused by the need to complete tasks within tight deadlines.
May deal with individuals who can, from time to time, be demanding and challenging. Must be able to remain patient and calm, and may have to engage in conflict resolution or crisis management at times.

Office environment, generally quiet but at times noise can escalate.
Interacts with students, employers, employees, management and the general public.
