Job Description

Position Title: Janitor (NOC 6733)

Main functions: Clean and maintain the internal and external grounds. Sweep, mop, scrub floors, empty waste containers, wash windows and disinfect washrooms and fixtures, Work with minimal supervision as per Standard Manufacturers Services Ltd’s ISO and Controlled Goods & Services policies and procedures.

Duties:

• Operate industrial floor cleaner to remove scraps, dirt, oil, and other refuse from the shop floor area.
• Clean interior/ exterior windows.
• Empty trash cans and recycle containers in the shop and front office areas.
• Sweep, mop hallways and floors in shop lunchroom/ washrooms and front office area.
• Clean and disinfect all washrooms and fixtures both shop area and front office.
• Replenish and maintain inventory of coffee items for the shop lunchroom.
• Mix water and detergents in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications.
• Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties for approval.
• Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, in order to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
• Support Standard Manufacturers Services Ltd’s Lean initiative.
• Any other duties that may be assigned.

• Works 5 days a week, Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day.
• The Janitor is entitled to ½ hour of unpaid time for lunch.
• The Janitor has frequently exposed to noise and a regular flow of people.
• The Janitor frequently changing priorities.
• The Janitor may be required to work overtime, with paid compensation.
• The Janitor must be organized and must be able to coordinate with different departments.

• Completion of high school may be required.
• May lift up to 9 kg (20 lbs).
• WHMIS Certification.
