We are looking for Engineering Co-op Students to join our Process Controls Department for 8-, 12-, and 16-month terms. Positions start in January 2024 in Edmonton.

Relocation assistance may be provided to the successful candidate.

Co-op Student Requirements (General):

  • Enrollment in a co-op (or internship) program in a recognized Canadian university
  • Excellent computer skills and experience working with the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner, using appropriate technical vocabulary
  • A valid Class 5 driver\'s license and personal vehicle may be required for some positions.

Automation, Process Control Engineering

Discipline: Electrical Engineering, or related program

Location: Edmonton

Description:

In our department, we play a pivotal role as the intelligence behind the natural gas system. We not only ensure fair customer billing, safeguard against H2S leaks, and monitor the addition of odorants to gas, but we also provide the essential service of delivering natural gas to our customers-a foundation upon which they rely. Other Qualifications:
  • Basic familiarity with logic and computer programming languages.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in tasks and documentation.

Driver\'s License considered an asset.



Communications, Process Control Engineering

Discipline: Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Engineering Physics

Location: Edmonton

Description:

Communications Engineering is responsible for the design and on-going engineering support of automation, remote monitoring & control, and telecommunications systems at natural gas measurement and control facilities. Design includes selection, integration, wiring diagram creation, and programming of a wide variety of controllers, electronics, instrumentation, and telecommunications equipment. On-going support includes project commissioning activities and troubleshooting assistance to field Operations staff throughout the life-cycle of facilities.

Activities:
  • Project execution - this includes detailed design, cost estimates, scheduling, material specifications & requisitions, and programming for the installation of SCADA, telecommunications, and/or electrical and instrumentation aspects of natural gas pipeline facilities.
  • Preparation of radio path studies.
  • Engineering drawing preparation.
  • Applying required standards and codes with a combination of standard and/or modified procedures, in executing projects/assignments within accepted Company Safety, Environment and Quality Assurance objectives, and best system practices.
Other Qualifications:
  • Must be a self-motivated individual who is able to work effectively under minimal supervision
