We are looking for Business Co-op Students to join ATCO for 8- and 12-month terms. Positions start in January 2024 in various locations including Edmonton, Calgary, Langley and Prince George.

Relocation assistance may be provided to the successful candidate.

Co-op Student Requirements (General):

  • Enrollment in a co-op (or internship) program in a recognized Canadian university
  • Excellent computer skills and experience working with the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner, using appropriate technical vocabulary
  • A valid Class 5 driver\'s license and personal vehicle may be required for some positions.

Business Relationship Management (Information Technology)

Discipline: Business Technology, Business Analytics

Location: Edmonton or Calgary

Description:

Students will work with our Information Technology department to support Business Relationship Management (BRM) through a variety of activities.

Activities:
  • Co-ordinate and organize the BRM team SharePoint site and information
  • Work with BRM to input and prioritize demands from business
  • Capture report requirements and work with the Analytics team to create dashboards
  • Support other small project delivery
  • Manage outsourcing partner delivery report, status and updates
  • Create communications
Other Qualifications:
  • Coursework in Operations Management
  • Experience with process documentation and optimization
  • Ability to capture and report information
  • Good organization skills
  • Excellent communication skills


Structures (Southern BC)

Discipline: Business

Location: Langley and Prince George

Description:

Special process improvement projects will be assigned by the General Manager and relate to a marketing, technology or product-related business process. This project will have a defined intended outcome but the project plan and steps will be developed by the Co-op Student with support from the General Manager, subject matter experts (SMEs) and other local colleagues. This role will require proven work experience in customer services or client-facing capacity, and is an excellent opportunity for a student looking to pursue a career in business, sales, project management or construction management.

Activities:
  • Prepare proposals in Salesforce in response to client inquiries related to upcoming sale and rental projects.
  • Monitor, update and maintain fleet and product information in ATCO\'s proprietary fleet management application.
  • Consolidate and develop reporting on sales data, including volume, fleet movements and other KPIs related to the Rental business.
  • Audit unit files to ensure accurate product specifications and information is assigned to each individual asset.

Work Management

Discipline: Business, Computer Sciences, or Computer Engineering

Location: Edmonton

Description:

Support the Work Management team as they interact with the project and technical groups to stabilize the Work and Asset Management Program. This role will provide exposure and allow direct interactions with the Transmission and Distribution operation teams. Activities such as data entry and analysis, retrieving requested information, compiling documentation, process development monitoring and updating are some of the key aspects of this position. In addition to these activities this role will support and possibly represent work management in collaboration efforts with other program such as Grid Modernization and the Customer Experience.

Activities:
  • Support the Work Management team with initiatives and project management by compiling and analyzing data, and developing and maintaining associated reporting.
  • Interface with all user groups to develop a thorough understanding of individual system needs and current practices.
  • Identify system opportunities and provide recommendations for the strategic use of associated applications.
  • Assist in addressing business issues in a timely manner.
  • Provide input on rollout strategy and business transition strategy.
  • Review deliverables impacting processes for completeness, accuracy, and quality on project deliverables such as process maps.
  • Monitor consolidated area business metrics to ensure targets are met and identify trends and issues.
  • Evaluate current processes and provide recommendations to assist in addressing/developing enhancements where required. Complete evaluations of standard forms, aids, procedures and best practices to consider their effectiveness.
  • Support the implementation, training, and rollout of project processes and procedures.
  • Assist in managing the associated business process documentation inventory.
Other Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of project management considered an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communications and negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge in Maximo, and/or Oracle suite of products considered an asset
  • Knowledge in iGrafx application use considered an asset
  • Use of technology for data analytics considered an asset
  • Strong financial acumen, project management, analytical and business consulting skills.
