How will you contribute?

The Senior Asset Management Officer is responsible for providing an operational team lead role in supporting the Supervisor with the work assignments and the day-to-day workload levelling of the Asset Management Officers, involving the provision of instructions relating to priorities and the general work plan for each period, as well as the organization and assignment of tasks to team employees to accommodate priorities and last-minute changes and absences. The position is responsible for providing a focal point for quality assurance and control of all asset management processes to ensure staff compliance with Senate policies, directives, and procedures. There is a responsibility for ensuring a team lead role in communicating with Senator\'s offices and Directorate leads, to plan and gain access to office areas to perform bi-annual and tri-annual inventory validation, including coordinating access arrangements and times, re-scheduling as required, and resource levelling amongst Asset Management Officers on a weekly basis. The position is also responsible for performing various inventory functions, both ongoing and by request, including verification, transfer of assets, physical inventory, tracking and location transfers; inventory of new appointments and departures, as well as following up on day-to-day Asset Management issues, recommending solutions, preparing activity and discrepancy reports, and performing asset management functions related to special projects. On demand, the incumbent replaces the Supervisor, Material Management and Logistics during absences

Employees of the Senate to staff one (1) permanent (full-time) position in the Property and Services Directorate.

This selection process may be used to staff determinate or indeterminate positions at the same level with similar requirements.

Prerequisites

  • Successful completion of post-secondary education and a certification in material management OR an acceptable combination of education with relevant experience;
  • A minimum of one (1) year experience in performing material management related activities, such as monitoring the recording of assets for accuracy and compliance, producing reports on asset holdings, and carrying out life-cycle asset management;
  • Experience in client service delivery methods and techniques to provide a high-quality front-line service;
  • Experience in providing advice and assistance in the interpretation or application of Senate asset management policies and procedures related to material management;
  • Knowledge of computer technology techniques and their application, including techniques for data entry, manipulation, and retrieval to input data;
  • Experience with GCSurplus, the federal government organization responsible for the sales of surplus federal goods considered an asset.
  • Experience in coaching, training, and mentoring staff in the areas of material asset life cycle management and/or inventory assessments, and/or capital asset life cycle planning considered an asset;
  • Experience in scheduling and coordinating operational tasks and ensuring logistical coordination of office physical inventories considered an asset;
