Position Summary



This is a

full-time, on-site role

based in our office, requiring presence

Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Occasional weekend availability may be needed to support business-critical activities. The IT Administrator will also participate in an

on-call rotation

with another team member to provide end-user support and respond to system failures that impact core business operations.

The IT Administrator will

report directly to the IT Manager

and is responsible for administering, supporting, and modernizing Daybar's infrastructure across all office and plant locations. This role combines

technical support

,

systems and network administration

, and a growing emphasis on

DevOps practices

, with a strong focus on automation, configuration management, and infrastructure-as-code.

Key Responsibilities



Network & Infrastructure Administration



Administer and support network infrastructure across all locations (LAN/WAN, switches, routers, firewalls, VPNs). Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve connectivity, traffic utilization, and performance issues. Maintain Windows Server infrastructure, Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, file/print services, and related systems. Document and maintain network topology, equipment, and configurations, ensuring diagrams and documentation remain current. Research, recommend, and coordinate procurement of IT equipment and infrastructure solutions. Maintain disaster recovery plans and procedures, and perform regular tests.

Systems Administration & End-User Support



Configure, maintain, and secure enterprise systems and devices. Provide advanced support to end users in person and remotely, resolving technical issues in a timely manner. Train new hires on end-user technologies and maintain related documentation. Support internet, telephony, and collaboration services. Perform installations and modifications to laptops, desktops, printers, and monitors. Support mobile devices (iOS and Android). Monitor and review Helpdesk tickets, provide support to end users, and assign/escalate tickets as appropriate. Be available for critical support during business-sensitive events (month-end, go-lives, physical inventories).

DevOps, Automation & Configuration Management



Design, implement, and maintain infrastructure-as-code using

Terraform

,

Ansible

, and related tools. Manage and deploy containerized environments with

Docker

and

Kubernetes

. Establish and maintain CI/CD pipelines (GitLab/GitHub Actions) to automate deployment, configuration, and updates of servers, applications, and services. Implement and monitor automated solutions for configuration management, version control, and system provisioning. Collaborate on initiatives to modernize IT operations, including hybrid cloud strategies, automation of backups, and monitoring.

Security & Compliance



Apply and monitor system patches, updates, and configuration changes according to best practices. Administer enterprise security solutions including firewalls, antivirus, endpoint detection, and monitoring. Ensure reliable backup and disaster recovery procedures, including regular testing and validation. Monitor logs and alerts, acting quickly on unusual activity or potential threats. Support compliance with company IT policies, NDAs, and security standards. Implement and manage data loss prevention (DLP) solutions, including usage of Intune or similar platforms. Manage and maintain mobile device management (MDM) solutions.

Project Coordination & Documentation



Coordinate and participate in go-lives, rollouts, acceptance testing, and IT-driven initiatives. Maintain comprehensive documentation of systems, procedures, inventories, and licensing. Develop effective project timelines based on business and/or departmental priorities. Support strategic IT projects as assigned, with a focus on automation and modernization.

General Responsibilities



Participate in cross-functional projects and rollouts aligned with business objectives. Maintain comprehensive documentation including system configurations, incident logs, and technical knowledge bases. Identify and document recurring issues to support continuous improvement. Other activities as required by the business.

Qualifications



Must be legally eligible to work and reside in Canada. College diploma or university degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience).

5+ years of experience

in systems/network administration or IT support roles. Hands-on experience with

Windows Server administration

,

Linux environments

,

Active Directory

, and

Microsoft 365

. Strong understanding of Windows/Linux server environments, networking, and system administration best practices. Strong knowledge of backup, disaster recovery, and storage management. Proficiency with

infrastructure-as-code tools

(Terraform, Ansible) and

containerization platforms

(Docker, Kubernetes). Experience with

CI/CD pipelines

and

version control systems

(GitLab, GitHub). Familiarity with cloud and hybrid infrastructure environments (Azure, AWS, or similar). Scripting or automation experience with PowerShell, Bash, Python, etc. is desirable. Certifications in relevant areas (networking, cloud, DevOps, security) are considered a strong asset. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills. Ability to work independently and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.
