Position Summary

The IT Infrastructure Manager is focused on planning, organizing, and managing staff and overall operations to ensure the stable operation of the organization\xe2\x80\x99s IT infrastructure. This includes developing, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing key functional areas, particularly network infrastructure, server infrastructure, data communications, and telecommunications systems. The Infrastructure Manager will also schedule and direct activities to resolve hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate manner using in house and external resources. The successful candidate will combine key hands-on skills with vendor and team management.

Major Responsibilities

  • 7+ years experience managing and delivering infrastructure design and operational excellence
  • Substantial exposure to a variety of IT enterprise architectures that span data processing, networks ,hardware platforms, enterprise software applications, and outsourced systems
  • Experience with infrastructure design (compute, networking, telephony) and development from business requirements analysis through to day-to-day management. This will be done in partnership with the IT Infrastructure and Security Architect
  • Working knowledge of how a customer focused, information business operates; knowledge of business theory, business processes, management, budgeting, and business office operations. Demonstrate an understanding of the business the technology infrastructure exists to support
  • Good understanding of project management principles, able to manage small/mid infrastructure or internal IT projects such as Data center migration, server upgrades, SAN installation, etc.
  • Superior understanding of the organization\xe2\x80\x99s goals and objectives and ability to map those to infrastructure solutions. Demonstrate an understanding of the goals of the business and how IT infrastructure decisions can support those goals and reduce risk.
  • Proven leadership ability. Success in recruiting, mentoring and performance managing junior / intermediate staff. Experienced and confident to challenge peers and working partners to insure good, respectful dialogue leads to the best solutions. This applies to internal IT infrastructure matters, cross team matters within the IT team, particularly with Architecture and can also apply to discussions with business leaders
  • Vendor management experience. Demonstrated success in balancing cost and service levels with a mixed in-house + Service Provider team
  • IT automation tool experience and working knowledge of scripting and automating tools to reduce time and improve accuracy of routine tasks

  • Nice to have: 10+ years experience working in the Financial or Financial Services industry or industry where customer service and secure handling of personal information is of critical importance.
Qualifications/Work Conditions
  • Post Secondary degree in Computer Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Certification in Infrastructure Management such as COMPTIA+, MCSE
  • On-call availability and periodic overtime.
  • Sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other computing equipment.
