Position Summary:

The IT Co-op Student provides daily support, management, upgrades, and deployments of all organizational issued systems at its multiple locations.

Tasks include but are not limited to the following:
  • Install and support office productivity tools (MS Office);
  • Implement and maintain all Public Health computer hardware using automation, where applicable;
  • Administer Public Health?s LAN, WAN and Internet connectivity;
  • Administer Public Health?s email system;
  • Provide support to Public Health?s agency web site via consultation with the Communications
department;
  • Develop scripts to automate tasks;
  • Maintain current inventory of hardware and software;
  • Provide support and maintain the telephony system;
  • Administer VPN application to support the remote worker;
  • Maintain local Access/SQL Server databases as required;
  • Provide technical support to Ministry Systems through consultation with Ministry Technical Support, key public health personnel and health systems user groups;
  • Provide support for non-computer technology including but not limited to copier, telephone, voice mail and facsimile systems;
  • Create and maintain IT related documentation when necessary;
  • After hours work may be necessary due to project schedules, deadlines and/or reliability issues.
Hours of Work:
Regular Office Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm (35 hours per week)

Position Effective:
September 5, 2023

Requirements:
  • Minimum of one-year post secondary school in an information technology program.
  • Students must be eligible and enrolled for a co-op placement as part of their program. Students will be asked to provide proof of their eligibility.
  • Students must be willing and able to travel to work onsite.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • High degree of comfort with computers, able to adapt and learn computer programs quickly.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
