IS 100: Introduction to International Studies

This interdisciplinary course introduces students to a range of global issues, including the basics of world geography, history, political and economic systems, and culture. The strong cross-cultural perspective of the course provides students with the necessary foundation to specialize in their own area of interest within the international studies program.
Position Requirements
MA or PhD in International Studies, Political Science or related discipline. Preference related to academic qualifications will be given in the following order: applicants with PhDs; applicants who have completed all PhD coursework and are enrolled in a PhD program; applicants who have completed all PhD coursework but are not currently enrolled in a PhD program; applicants who are enrolled in a PhD program but have not completed PhD coursework; applicants with a Masters degree. Experience with teaching or research related to the course's subject matter. A record of effective teaching at the post-secondary level.

Physical Demands Pay Grade Faculty Sessional Salary Range As per URFA Collective Agreement Status Term Work Hours
The instructor will deliver the course on campus face-to-face on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1430-1545. Instructors are expected to have one office hour per week.

Sessional Lecturers may have preparatory work to do before the start date and sometimes may have to deal with grading tasks after the termination date.
