Irrigation Specialist (Parks Specialist IV)

The City of Campbell River is seeking an Irrigation Specialist to join their Parks team.

The role - The Irrigation Specialist (Parks Specialist IV) will perform tasks assigned in the day-to-day operation, maintenance and associated record keeping of the City's irrigation systems. They will be responsible for the central Toro Sentinel Irrigation Controller System and for designing, installing, and maintaining the City's underground irrigation systems and controllers for parks, green spaces, sports fields, and playgrounds. They will also provide oversight, as assigned, to labourers, and Parks staff assisting with irrigation activities.

Our ideal candidate will have

  • Certified Irrigation Technician Level 1 (Irrigation Industry Association of BC)
  • EOCP Certification in Cross-Connection Control
  • Valid Driver's Licence, and produce and maintain a clean driver's abstract, as per City policy
  • Current Pesticide Applicator's Certificate (Landscape - Integrated Pest Management)
  • Formal training and/or proven experience in Irrigation Systems Design, Repair and Operations
  • Minimum 3 years related experience in the design, installation, operations, and maintenance of commercial automated underground irrigation systems, including programming of Toro Sentinel system software through a master computer
  • Minimum 1 year directly related experience in parks maintenance procedures
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
The rate of pay for this permanent, full-time, CUPE bargaining unit position is $31.16 per hour based on a 40-hour work week and includes a comprehensive benefits package.
