Course Description:
In many organizations, compensation is the single largest budget component. A 1% difference in compensation could mean hundreds of thousands dollars saved or spent without gain. The design of compensation systems also affects organizations\xe2\x80\x99 attractiveness to job seekers and the behaviour of current employees. This course provides students with an understanding of the principles, processes, issues and techniques involved in establishing compensation and reward programs in organizations within a framework of fairness and equity. Compensation, will be looked at from the perspective of base pay, benefits, and incentive pay. As well, students will be introduced to the relationship between motivation theories and effective remuneration and reward programs. The course will focus on the major components in developing an effective compensation and rewards program such as legislation, principles of equity and fairness, job evaluation, compensation surveys, benefits and incentives. Current events in relation to compensation and rewards will be explored.

Sessional Lecturer III - Long Term = $10,570.02
Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement should prevail.
Minimum Qualifications:
Completed PhD in Industrial Relations, Human Resources or related discipline\xcd\xbe or a combination of advanced degrees (e.g.MIRHR/MBA/LLB in applicable area) and equivalent professional background. Expert knowledge of subject area.
Preferred Qualifications:
Expert knowledge of subject area and demonstrated ability in university teaching. Previous experience in teaching a similar course is preferred.
Description of Duties: Prepare a course syllabus in accordance with departmental guidelines. Prepare and deliver lectures (12 two-hour classes); be available for office hours and informal communications with students. Assess and evaluate students\' work and provide final course grades in accordance with university and department practices.
